Getting Started

We provide substance use disorder treatment and supportive services to adult men with substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health conditions, and significant involvement in the criminal justice system. First Step House is a place to make a new start, where people learn and practice the skills necessary to live productive lives of meaning, purpose, and recovery.

We receive many treatment referrals from criminal justice entities and community partners, but this is not required to enter our treatment programs. If you or your loved one are self-referred, we can help you determine if First Step House is right for you. We provide information about our services, funding assistance options including Medicaid, and other community resources. These might include withdrawal management, medication assisted treatment (MAT), and medical services. If we aren’t the right treatment option, we will refer you to other providers in our community.

Various screens and assessments are administered by a licensed mental health clinician and are necessary to determine your recommended level of care. We accept assessments and referrals from our community partners and offer affordable and Medicaid funded assessments in our Admissions Department.
