First Step House is hiring a full time Billing Specialist in Salt Lake City, Utah!!
The Billing Specialist is responsible for ensuring clean medical claims are submitted in a timely manner. This position requires a high attention to detail and strict adherence to deadlines, as clean claims are essential to the revenue of First Step House. The Billing Specialist must also have the technical ability to work with various programs including databases, word processing programs, and spreadsheets. The overall goals of this position are to (a) ensure all medical, special program, and lab claims are submitted accurately, (b) maintain an AR of under 20%, (c) build and maintain positive relationships with clients and outside agencies.

- Pay Range: $ 55,000 - $ 61,000 BOE

Requirements:
- Industry experience within substance abuse preferred.
- Strong writing skills, strong communication skills.
Education and Experience
- A minimum of 1 year experience with family practice billing or related field is required
- Previous experience with public funding mechanisms, Medicaid, and private insurance is required
- Previous experience billing Medicare along with knowledge of Medicare guidelines and compliance.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Build and submit claims for First Step House Medical Group and other specialty programs
- Work and correct claim denials for all practices
- Perform regular Medicaid eligibility checks
- Reconcile and maintain accounts receivable
- Attend all relevant employee training classes and clinical staff meetings
- Stay up to date on Medicaid bulletins and other payor changes
- Collaborate and consult with supervisors, treatment-team members, community partners, and other relevant parties concerning eligibility issues to gain resolution
- Other duties as assigned
