Our Programs

First Step House offers at-risk people with no to low-income life-saving services.

What We Do

Comprehensive Care

We provide wrap-around care that addresses: substance use disorder (SUD), mental and behavioral health conditions, homelessness, non-employment, long-term recovery, and transitioning to civilian life for veterans and those exiting the criminal justice system.

At First Step House, we recognize that recovery from SUD and other debilitating conditions requires a comprehensive approach to care. Rather than applying quick-fix solutions, we work with clients to establish stability in all areas of their lives.

Programs

Residential Treatment

Residential treatment SUD and behavioral health treatment for adult men.

Located in Salt Lake County, our three residential treatment facilities serve adult men ages 18 and older. Treatment is administered by a qualified team of highly effective addiction specialists. At intake and throughout treatment, we evaluate the unique needs of each client and create individualized case-management plans.

Programs

Outpatient Treatment

Mental health and SUD outpatient treatment for adults.

Our outpatient program serves people with serious mental illness, mild to moderate health conditions, and SUDs. Those completing outpatient SUD treatment have either completed residential treatment or have a clinician’s referral. Our outpatient program employs diverse therapeutic modalities to address clients’ whole health needs.

Programs

REACH

REACH stands for Recovery, Engagement, Assessment, Career development, and Housing. This program serves males exiting the criminal justice system with SUD who are high-risk and high-need offenders. Specifically, treatment targets factors that contribute to criminal behavior, such as: behavioral health treatment, housing support, and case management services.

Programs

Long-Term Recovery

Our Long-Term Recovery Management Program (LTRM) emphasizes sustained, post-treatment recovery management to elevate long-term recovery rates, enhances the quality of personal/family life in long-term recovery, increases employment income, and ensures benefits for our community. Such benefits include decreasing criminal justice and healthcare costs.

Programs

Housing

Housing dedicated to case management, recovery, permanent support, and transitioning to self-sufficiency.

FSH offers a suite a housing services to meet the diverse needs of our clients. Our case management housing serves individuals who are homeless and at-risk of homelessness, many of whom have chronic behavioral health conditions. Our recovery programs provide sober living environments and guidance to self-sufficiency, while our permanent supportive housing works to reduce homelessness and recidivism.
